13. Eastern Tailed Blue

This Eastern Tailed Blue was in excellent shape. Often they have nicks out of their wings from attempts from being eaten. The small tails are actually a diversion. They will move them up and down to mimic their antennae so a predator may only nip the back of the wing, rather than a more critical near the head nip!

Every one of your butterfly pictures I see, I think 'oh that is the best!' And then you post another one. I love the droplets of water. It looks like he is getting 'ready and set to go' however does he favour a 'wet track'?
