31. Clifton Hill At Night
Another shot similiar to my other Clifton Hill at night shot. This one however was shot with lookin down the hill. I still think I like the first one better. I guess I still have to shoot it again. . .

29. Damselfly
I was out this morning with a couple of my friends bug hunting. This was my first trip out with them for this purpose though they are experienced at shooting them. The morning was pretty uneventful as this Damselfly was the only one that was found, and not by me. I really do not how they expect me to find an insect that blends in with it's environment, buried in grasses, when it is only 3/4 inch long!
We are out most Sunday's so I am sure I'll be posting more Damslefies and dragonflies, maybe some moths and butterflies as well. The detail has really been lost in the conversion to websize, but the full version is really quite remarkable.

28. American Falls at Night
This is a photo of Niagara Falls at night. Several years ago the changed the colors of the lights that they project on to the Falls from brighter colours to these softer, more pastel colours. I like the brighter colours from before.

27. Nadia
I went to watch my niece play her first soccer game this week. While I was there, I was able to grab some nice images of her sister at play.

26. Clouds
Another shot from my weekend camping trip. As I mentioned yesterday, we had a variety of weather, so when I saw some nice wispy clouds, I took advantage of the break in the weather and shot a few.

25. A Nice Day To Camp
I went camping this weekend with my girlfriend, Leanne, and her parents. We went to Lake Side Beach State Park in New York State. This was shot not far from our campsite.
We had some nice weather, some cool weather and some rainy weather. It was better than working though.

Shot from Oakes Garden Theater, as was yesterday's, this is look out at Niagara Falls from inside a structure in the garden.
Happy Birthday James.

21. Oakes Garden Theater
This is the covered (sort of) portion of Oakes Garden Theater here in Niagara Falls. This is also one of the locations I shot Leanne a long time ago.
The theater is surrounded by gardens and a large pond, and has a view of Niagara Falls in the front. It is used primarly for recreation, many wedding and engagement photos are shot here and occasionally, it will host shows such as a summer concert or Regis and whoever may be co-hosting for him!

20. Sun and Water
This is a different view of the sunrise I posted yesterday. This one is a little more abstract in it's composition, concentrating more on the waves and the reflection o fthe sun in the lake than on the sunrise itself.

18. Driftwood
Shot early morning, this piece of driftwood was well worn. A perfect candidate for black and white with the holes and the sand on the top.
I think my implementation was a little too dark though. Still unsure of it myself.

17. Soccer Stars
This is a photo of my niece at her first soccer practice. Both my sister Nicole, myself and my brother James played soccer for most of our childhoods and into our adult years as well. I still continue to play, so it was nice to see Symone take up the sport.
I'd not normally post something taken as a snapshot, or a record shot, here but this came out particularly well. The backlighting on the girls was nice and there is a little bit of motion in the ball to show action.

16. Beach Rocks
I went out Sunday morning with a few friends to shoot the sunrise at Charles Daley Park between St. Catharines and Jordon, Ontario. This park is on the shore of Lake Ontario. Along with the sunrise, I shot some other beach artifacts, including this shot of the rocks on the beach.
I believe it is a better shot than my previous post of beach pebbles. These were wet, and with the early morning sun, the colours are much more vibrant.

15. Grossius Insectus
I believe that Grossius Insectus is the official name for this. If it is not, it should be. The insect was about 2 inches long in body and close to 5 from tip to tip of his feelers. I trapped him in a glass and tried to get a few shots of him. Hard to see in the smaller version of the image, but the individual ommatidium are visible in the compound eye.
In case anyone hasn't figured it out, I don't particulary like bugs. Another view of the insect can be found here.

14. Fence
This fence was located in London, England. Leanne and I were in London last September visiting her sister, Carrie. We did a great deal of walking, seeing the popular tourist destinations and a managed to make it to a few pubs while there.
Located just outside of the Museum of Natural History, I liked the repeating pattern of the fence. I really like these repeating patterns and especially how a narrow depth of field works with them.

This is the same flower that I used yesterday to modify the highlights in the bubble. I like the graphic nature of this flower, and even though I had seen it many times before in my photo archive, never really noticed it.

11. Bubble
This is my 100th posting since I began this affair. I was hoping I may have been able to post something a little more dramatic for my 100th, but all I have for you today is a bubble.
I didn't liket the highlights on the top, so I changed them a bit. Creative license shall we say.

10. Web
THis was one of my first attempts at shooting a spider web. The day was fairly warm, with no dew, and the highlights in the background make it a poor web for show. But something I know I can improve upon.

09. First Light
I had an opportunity to use a Canon 1DS Mark II digital camera. This is a full frame (35mm) 16.7 MP digital camera. So, to take advantage of the opportunity, I woke at 5:00 again this morning and made the trip back to Port Colborne for another sunrise.
The camera is large and heavy, and I would love to trade my 10D in for this...anyone have $13,000 they would like to donate to my new camera fund?

07. Berdenia Cordifolia
Following right along with the theme of the past few days, May flowers, is this Berdenia Cordifolia, or Elephant Ears.
Like yesterday's tulips, this is from Oakes Garden in Niagara Falls.
Other recent flowers:

May 6, 2005
I think that this ends my current flower spree.

06. Translucent Tulips
I was out for a walk in Oakes Garden this afternoon on lunch and the tulips have started to blossom, red and yellow. I liked these ones though, yellow with red.
Oakes Garden Theater is in Niagara Falls and is surrounded by rock gardens and flower gardens and has a grass amphitheater. I took some nice shots of Leanne there a few years ago, and will do more soon.

05. Rose and Shadow
Normally a harsh shadow like the one in the photo is not desirable in an image. For this one though I wanted to incorporate the shadow as a design element.
The image did not work in colour, so a conversion to black in white made the needed change.

01. Port Colborne Sunrise
This was shot this morning on the shore of Lake Erie. A friend of mine from the Niagara Falls Camera Club has invited me out with him and another friend to shoot. They do this most weekends. My work shedule does not allow that, but I'll be going usually every other weekend shooting a variety of subjects including wild flowers, insects, sunrises and landscapes.
5:30 comes very early in the morning for me!
