Morning Rays

This photo, shot on the same day as the previous three photo, seemingly shows rays of light streaming from the clouds. I did this using a long exposure and zooming the lens at the end of the exposure without adjusting focus. I do not remember if I zoomed in or out. I also used this technique on a previous photo (http://potd.chrisempey.com/2008/06/20/20-zoom-zoom/).

Photos shot the same day:
A New Dawn
Sunday Morning on the Lake
Incoming Storm

Poppies Looking to the Sun

Another shot similiar to yesterday’s, this photo is a different composition.  I like this one better though.

Poppies Looking to the Sun

This is a bit of a landmark image for me, photo #1000. I started this photo blog on February 1st, 2005 (after having previously displayed my images on another one of my sites for several years) with a photo of a Silver Cheeked Hornbill and posted daily up until a little bit before my wedding last year when other priorities became more important. I continued to post regularly, though not daily up until March of this year when because of hosting problems with my web provider, I became too frustrated and stopped posting until June 1 when I resumed daily posting.

Today’s photo, shot on my recent trip to the Bruce Peninsula with Scott is of poppies growing wild along the roadside. I am sure they had been part of a garden at one time, but the area appears to be overgrown now.

I hope to continue daily posting.  It does get tiring at times, and sometimes I need a little inspiration to put up a new photo.  I can’t say I will make another 1000 photos but I will give it a shot. The important thing is not to stop.  After a while, it almost becomes an addiction.

I haven’t done a good job up so far of advertising it, but many of my images here are available for sale but I hope to have that rectified shortly.

Watching The Sunset

I shot this group of three people on the end of the peer across from the cottage I was staying at on my recent trip to the Bruce Peninsula.  There was a thunderstorm approaching from the south and the rest of the sky was lit up in this amazing wash of red.  I thought the placement of the people against the dramatic sky would yield a nice photograph.   We did not get to shoot too much longer as the rain came and we hurried into the cottage.

Caledon Badlands

I spent a few days on the Bruce Peninsula last week photographing wild orchids, sunsets and other nice things.  On the way up, Scott and I stop at a couple of waterfalls along the way and this spot, the Caledon (or Cheltenham) Badlands.

Over the next little while I expect to post images from that trip.  Photos of Yellow Lady Slippers, Grass Pink Orchids, Showy Lady Slippers, sunsets, and waterfalls. Maybe a self portrait as well!
